Keep white items white in 3D (shadows make look gray!)

When I click on my mouse or am moving the room around, the washer/dryer and cabinets look a nice white, but when I let go, they turn back to this gray. I tried to adjust the color to white, but the closest I can get is this gray. Is there anything I can do to keep it white? I don't know if it is maybe a shadow? Anyway that I can turn the shadows off? Thanks!
