Tasks keep spamming the whole team! And tags aren't effective

Even though I'm not assigned the tasks, I keep getting emails from my other two co-workers on their tasks. Also, there's no way the only method for them to know live changes is by tagging them! Can we get effective updates to the assignee without the need to tag them every time?
