Template Library Change

I really preferred the old template library where I could add it to a current board at any time. Unless, I am doing something incorrectly, it now opens a whole new board and I am unable to click to add or drag my template to something I’m already working on. I also have to start a new board to access the templates, but then when clicking my template it still creates another new board.. feels like extra steps and a blank open board that I then have to delete. Perhaps user error, but I miss the old way or would love to be able to select my template for the current board I”m working in!
