Mobile App

Hey!

Our work doesn't happen at a desk. We're in showrooms, on job sites, in client meetings and in the car in between, and right now DesignFiles only really works on a desktop browser. The mobile site logs us out constantly, boards barely render on an iPad, and anything we need to capture on the go has to wait until we're back at the computer.

Here's what a day with an app would look like:

• Track time as it happens. Start a timer when I walk into a client meeting, stop it when I leave. Right now I log into the website hours later and try to reconstruct my day.

• Pull up specs in the showroom. I'm standing in front of a sofa trying to remember the dimensions I specified. I should be able to open the spec sheet on my phone and check selections in real time.

• Clip products from anywhere. I find products in person and on my iPad all the time, and the clipper only exists on desktop. Let me snap it into my library on the spot.

• Check orders on site visits. A client asks "when is the rug arriving?" and I want the tracker in my pocket, not a promise to email them later.

• Capture notes, photos and tasks in the moment. After a site meeting my head is full of measurements and to-dos. They should go straight into the project before I lose them.

And please don't forget our clients. Most of them live on their phones, not laptops. They want to view their boards, approve or decline items, follow their orders and pay invoices without pinching and zooming through the mobile site. Even a simple client app would make us look so much more professional.

Until a real app exists, please at least make the mobile and iPad browser experience work: keep us logged in, make boards viewable, make documents readable.
